Device Net Interface for Mentor II

MD25

Device Net is a high speed communications network and protocol, that allows large amounts of data to be transferred

quickly to and  from network nodes. The Device Net interface will detect the network data rate, and automatically synchronize to it.

The Device Net interface for Mentor II is a slave node only.

Device Net networks are "centralized" systems, requiring a master controller (usually a PLC) which controls all

communications with slave nodes on the network.

Fully conformant
Easy fit add on card for Mentor II
Device Net is a high speed communications network and protocol that uses the Controller Area
Network (CAN) hardware layer
Fast data transfer between network nodes
Each Node configured with a unique network address
Polled data connections with a minimum data transfer period of 5 MS
Cyclic data transfer with a minimum "heartbeat rate" of 50 MS
Can be configured to transfer with 4 or 6 data bytes in each direction
Supports data rates up to 500 Kbits/sec
Supports two or three 16 bit data words
Full data mapping allows any polled or cyclic data work to control or source from any drive
parameters
Default mappings -
- Speed/frequency feedback
- Torque feedback
- Status word provides status bits about 15 drive functions, e.g. drive healthy, drive running, at
  speed etc.
- Speed/frequency reference
- Torque feedback reference
- Control word allows ENABLE, RUN and DIRECTION signals, plus reference selection and user
bit parameters to be transmitted in one cyclic data word
- Status word provides status bits of 15 drive functions, e.g. drive healthy, drive running, at
  speed etc.
- Control word allows ENABLE, RUN and DIRECTION signals, plus reference selection and user
bit parameters to be transmitted in one polled data word
"Foreground" and "Background" data transfer rates for polled data, where background data is
transmitted every N foreground cycles
Explicit (or non-cyclic) data channel allows the master controller to access any drive parameter

Network

Up to 500m network length at 125 Kbits/sec
Up to 100m network length at 500 Kbits/sec
Up to 64 nodes on a single network
